Red, White and Blue

The 4th of July is one of our favorite holidays so having it over a 3 day weekend made it even more magical. The party started on Saturday night when we watched the fireworks from my parents yard.

Sunday evening everyone went on the annual scooter ride. Family, friends and even strangers gather on their scooters and motorcycles, drive down University Avenue and throw candy at all the campers.

Following tradition we had out sleepover at the clubhouse. You still get all the excitement and noise from the University campers but get to sleep in a cozy bed. We enjoyed patriotic popcorn and watched Alice in Wonderland. Karson thought it was an adventure of a lifetime; he packed 3 days worth of clothes and kept screaming "woo hoo party with no mom and dad!".

Monday morning we got up bright and early to watch the parade.

After the parade we had all the Roney's over for swimming, games, good company and delicious food.

Mik and his patriotic "sleeve".....

Kyler got creative with his tattooing.

Then it was off to the Smith's for a little rain and an amazing firework show.

4TH WEEKEND

It was so lovely to have the 4th fall on a Sunday this year, it meant we got a 3 day weekend here in Utah! We had a lazy Saturday swimming, laying out and eating slurpies.

Saturday night was the Stadium of Fire so we watched the fireworks from my parents backyard. While waiting for the fireworks we swam, ate delicious food and roasted huge marshmallows.

YUM!

Sunday we BBQ'd with friends.

A newer tradition we have started is taking the kids to "the clubhouse" the night before the parade and have a sleepover. Karson was so 'cited this year because he finally got to come!

Mik met up with a bunch of family and friends on scooters and motorcycles to "candy bomb" all the people on University Avenue.

Mom and Dad ready to go!

My birds eye view of the scooter gang.

After watching a movie we went to the Shred Shack for a late night snack.

We woke up bright and early for the parade the next morning. Some of us a little more tuckered out then others.

Parade Time!

The Harley Davidson mascot (a sasquatch) pulled Brooke out of the bleachers and made him ride in the parade!

OUCH! Burned his leg on the hot pipe:

Love these summer days!

AMERICA! AMERICA!

We had a great 4th of July! Unfortunately Mik had to work late Friday night and then early Saturday morning so I decided to take the kids to the "Clubhouse" to spend the night and "camp out" with the rest of Provo. We had a blast! Friday night we enjoyed some gelato, watched the people down below and watched Around the World in 80 Days. We hit the sack and woke up to the ice cream man at 7am (who eats ice cream that early!?)
The kids looking at the hot air balloons

We enjoyed the pre parade from the balcony

After getting dressed and brushing our hair we headed to the parade

After the parade we headed to a family party where we ate, swam and surfed!

I didn't get any pictures but later that night we lounged in the backyard enjoying ice cream as we watched the fireworks from the stadium.
